PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Carolyn has over 20 years’ experience at the ‘top table’ in director level positions, influencing and coaching senior leaders in both the private and public sectors.
As a former People and OD Director she is well placed to understand the context and challenges that are unique to those working at a strategic level and is able to draw from her personal experience of working closely and extensively with Executive Boards, Governance committees, Organisation leaders and staff at all levels and stages of their career.
Carolyn has worked in publishing, Further and Higher education, sportswear and manufacturing organisations leading HR and OD functions across the UK and overseas so understands the subtleties, complexities and benefits of working in multicultural and diverse organisations.
She has coached and delivered development programmes extensively throughout her career both as an in-house Director and as an external consultant.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
Carolyn is a Chartered Fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She holds a BA in Business Studies from Robert Gordon University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management from Napier University. She is holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring.
Carolyn is skilled in using diagnostic tools such as psychometrics (SHL OPQ, MBTI, HBDI), 360 assessment (Compass, Real World TLQ), Neuro Linguistic Programming (Master Practitioner and Trainer) and other developmental tools.
COACHING STYLE
Carolyn’s coaching style is active and participative. She uses her expertise to change thinking, particularly unhelpful self-talk, to change behaviour and ultimately performance.
Carolyn particularly enjoys unlocking potential in clients. She takes delight from seeing those she has coached achieve promotion, recognition, and their personal and professional ambitions.
In addition to questioning, reflection and discussion, Carolyn engages a variety of tools and interventions to provoke and develop clients’ thinking. She is also firm that such tools are of little value unless interpreted clearly and used to create credible impactful actions.
